Elliott Laybourne

I spent decades on the dealer's side of the screen.
Now I teach what I learned.

How I got here

Elliott Laybourne, former derivatives market-maker

I first walked onto a trading floor in London as a nervous 17-year-old with a big appetite to learn. A year later, I was a qualified derivatives broker, and by 21 I'd found my calling as a market-maker in commodity futures and options.

Over the years, I've worked at Société Générale, Marex and Natixis, ABN Amro, and on the open-outcry floor of the London Metal Exchange, and founded one of the busiest LME options market making desks. I learned to price risk, hedge dealer books, run proprietary books, and advised multi-billion-dollar funds and family offices.

In time, I learned how markets really work, and the biggest lesson was that they are far simpler than most people think. When you strip away the noise, what's left is positions and flows: who's holding what, who has to trade, and what forces their hand. Once you understand that, everything changes.

“Markets run on math, not emotion.”

What you'll learn

The most important thing you'll learn from me is that market behaviour is far less discretionary than you think. Every day, tens of billions of dollars of mechanical flow set the environment you're trading in. These players aren't acting on technical analysis or YouTube videos. They're acting on math.

Once you understand that, you stop guessing about what might happen and start trading against what has to happen.

The tools I'll teach you
01
Anticipate the flows.
Learn which players are forced to trade, and when.
02
Know the levels that matter, and why.
Model where the market's likely to move, and how.
03
Map the regime.
Learn the specific triggers that flip a market from calm to chaotic.
04
Match your strategy to the regime.
Understand which games work best in which environment.
05
Think in distributions.
Use ranges of outcomes and payoffs instead of single price targets.
06
Size for survival.
The best edge in the world can't save you from one oversized trade.
07
Decide with data.
Build a trading framework based on math, not emotion.

I'm not sending you trades.

I'm teaching you to read the machine, so you know which game you're playing before you take the risk. That's the method, and you keep it.

What I don't do

Provide signals or tips. I teach the mental and mechanical models, so you make better decisions on your own.

Pretend it's easy. No strategy wins every time. But with the right coaching and a process you understand, trading becomes a skill you can build like any other.

Over-promise. No get-rich-quick, no guarantees. Just a real edge and an honest view of what it takes to trade it.

TREND

Trend following

A systematic tactical allocation model that rides the market's structural lean instead of fighting it. Rules, not guesses.
